WALK AROUND
Walk in Ano Syros
The town was erected by the Venetians in the 13th century, originally a Catholic settlement that provided protection from the pirates. Wander through the maze of narrow stone lanes, with medieval tunnels and archways, lined with whitewashed houses, stacked one above the other, many with views of Ermoupolis and the harbor below. There are quite a few restaurants with terraces for lunch and dinner, or simply a coffee or cocktail; a favorite for many is Lili’s with a fantastic terrace.
Ermoupoli
Ermoupoli is the grandest of all Cycladic towns and home to a thriving shipbuilding industry in the 19th century that brought much wealth to the island, when it was Greece’s leading port. A city rich in both architecture and culture, with streets paved in white marble and filled with activity and tavernas literally spilling onto the streets. Get lost in the beautiful streets and the hand crafted shops, and don’t forget to stop at Miaouli square for ice cream and Loukoumades!
Vaporia
Vaporia is located in Ermoupoli and you can enjoy t the view of the waterfront homes, walk around, go swimming and sunbathing, or have dinner/drinks at various coffee shops and restaurants, including the popular spot “Sta Vaporia”.
